Is America really a democracy?

I didn't want to get much into politics on this blog, but this is something that I wanted to speak on. A few days ago, Ex-DNC chair, Donna Brazile, confessed in a Politico article that the primary was rigged in favor of Hillary Clinton. This doesn't come as any shock to me or any other progressive that pays remotely any attention to what's going on, but it's nice to finally see it being exposed by someone who has solid evidence.

To sum it up, Clinton and her campaign took control over the DNC after Obama & Debbie Wasserman Schultz nearly bankrupted the party. She took control over it in 2015, a year before she even had the nomination. So basically they booted out the Bernie camp and made it where she would become the primary nominee. Even if you would never vote for Clinton or Bernie, this should outrage anyone who believes in democracy. Clinton never had a chance in winning this election against Trump because no one likes her. She doesn't present solutions to problems. She never has. The 2016 election should have come down to Trump & Sanders. I'm willing to bet that Sanders would have won over Trump, hands down. This is what enrages me so much. Our country could be on a completely different path, but instead the DNC decided that money in their pockets was more important than the well being of America and its citizens.

The entire time the Bernie camp was saying that this was going on, neo-liberals and radical feminists were calling us crazy and sore losers. Come to find out it was all true. I would venture to say that the 2016 election was the most corrupt in Americas history. Between the shady dealings of the DNC all the way to Russian ties on both sides, it shakes the very core of who we are as a country.

I sincerely hope that in 2020, Bernie will stand against the Democratic party and start his own party. The Democratic party is far too corrupt at this point to represent us as progressives. Maybe then we will get a fair shot at leading this country on a brighter path.

I've linked the original Politico article and a video from Jordan Chariton (one of my favorite reporters!) explaining more about the situation.
